What are the dangers of eating litchi on an empty stomach

Lychee is one of the most popular fruits. In ancient times, an emperor sent lychees to beautiful women thousands of miles away in order to make them smile. Lychees have beautiful appearance, sweet taste, and are very convenient to use. They can be eaten after peeling. In daily life, some fruits can be eaten on an empty stomach, while some fruits cannot be eaten on an empty stomach. In fact, it is best not to eat too many lychees on an empty stomach, especially people with diabetes should not eat lychees on an empty stomach.

1. Harm of eating litchi on an empty stomach

(1) Eating too many lychees can lead to "lychee disease", which is actually a form of hypoglycemia. Lychees contain a large amount of fructose. After the fructose is absorbed by the capillaries of the gastrointestinal mucosa, it must be converted into glucose by the convertase in the liver before it can be directly used by the human body. If you eat too many lychees, too much fructose will enter the human blood, and the conversion enzyme that "transforms" fructose will be in short supply, causing a large amount of fructose to fill the blood vessels but not be converted into glucose, causing the human body's blood sugar (glucose) content to be much lower than normal, thereby causing hypoglycemia.

(2) The sugar content of litchi is about 16.6%, most of which is fructose. Fructose will stimulate the secretion of insulin, which may cause a hypoglycemia reaction, resulting in symptoms of hypoglycemia such as dizziness, palpitations, pale complexion, vertigo, and fainting. If consumed on an empty stomach, it can easily cause hypoglycemia, so it is recommended that you eat it between meals as it is safer.

(II) Precautions for eating litchi

1. Lychees are warm in nature and eating too much of them can cause "getting angry", so people with yin deficiency and excess fire should eat less.

2. People who are suffering from acne, sores, dry and sore throat, swollen and painful gums, constipation or acute inflammation should not eat it.

3. Diabetic patients should be cautious when eating lychees. They can eat them in moderation, but they cannot use it as a way to lower blood sugar.

4. Pregnant women who eat too many lychees will increase fetal heat and easily lead to qi disorders, causing stomach qi reflux and vomiting. Over time, it will damage the yin and cause heat symptoms, causing abdominal pain, spotting and other symptoms of threatened abortion. So pregnant women should not eat lychees.

5. Do not eat more than 10 lychees at one time. Eating too much will increase liver fire, dry throat and tongue, and in severe cases will cause nausea, weakness in the limbs, dizziness and other discomforts. Especially for children, 3-4 pills are enough. Eating more may cause fever.

What are the dangers of eating lychees on an empty stomach?

1. Try not to eat lychees that have been soaked in water. Because a large amount of water entering the gastrointestinal tract will dilute the digestive juices, causing loss of appetite or indigestion, and may also cause temporary hypoglycemia. Some soaked lychees may contain toxic ingredients such as detergents, which may also cause dizziness.

2. You can drink some salt water or herbal tea before and after eating lychees. Mung bean water, winter melon and aquatic rehmannia soup also have good therapeutic effects.

3. For the elderly, those with constipation should avoid eating it as much as possible. Patients with liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes and gastrointestinal disease should be especially cautious.
