We all know that although tuberculosis is highly contagious, it is a curable disease. For that kind of sales and consumption combination, the time given to people to recover is very long. As long as they receive timely treatment within this time, they will not die. For those with acute tuberculosis who are discovered in the late stage of tuberculosis, the chance of death may be relatively high. So what is the mortality rate of tuberculosis? Many people may not know much about tuberculosis and tend to ignore its harm. Experts point out that tuberculosis is a disease that is very harmful to people. If patients are not actively treated, the disease may lead to death. So, The prognosis of pulmonary tuberculosis is poor, with the 10-year cumulative survival rate being less than 50%. With the improvement of treatment, it has now increased to 60%~70%. The treatment mainly affects women and black people after the age of 45, with poor efficacy and high mortality. Most patients die from lung infections, pulmonary fibrosis, and myocardial diseases. In addition, patients with recurrent or prolonged pulmonary tuberculosis and patients with pulmonary tuberculosis complicated by tumors have a poor prognosis, while those with other connective tissue diseases have a better prognosis. Clinically, approximately 9% to 52% of pulmonary tuberculosis patients suffer from tumors. Generally speaking, the older you are, the higher the chance of developing a tumor. The sites where malignant tumors occur are stomach, ovary, uterus, gallbladder, nasopharynx, lung and esophagus, etc. Malignant tumors may occur before, after, or simultaneously with the disease. After the tumor is removed, the symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis can be quickly relieved and cured. Therefore, for patients who are diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis and whose condition has not improved after a long period of treatment or elderly patients, timely and detailed systemic laboratory tests should be performed, including gynecological (breast, uterus, ovary), liver, spleen and liver function tests. For suspected cases, lung X-rays, full digestion barium meal radiographs, and CT scans should be performed if necessary to rule out possible complications of tumors, especially malignant tumors. The treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis is mainly based on corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, supplemented by supportive therapy. Early diagnosis and timely treatment are the key to successful treatment. Therefore, patients should seek medical treatment to avoid delaying the disease. In recent years, with the improvement of diagnosis and treatment levels and the progress of drug treatment, the cumulative survival rate of pulmonary tuberculosis has greatly increased compared with the past, and some can achieve long-term remission. |
