What does eye reflection mean?

In life, eye reflection is a common phenomenon in myopia. Reflection is also called astigmatism. A more popular way of saying astigmatism is that when you look at things, the light focus of the eyes cannot be gathered together, and things look blurry and have double images. In fact, reflection can usually be corrected by wearing glasses. When we wear glasses for correction, we also need to pay attention to eye hygiene and try to use less computers, mobile phones and other electronic products.

The eyes can distinguish different colors and different lights, and vision is very important to humans. When there is a problem with our body, we can also discover our own diseases from our eyes. When the eyes show the following symptoms, we should be alert to the signs of serious illness.

Be careful if these 8 symptoms appear in your eyes

1. Yellow bags on the eyelids

If middle-aged and elderly people, especially women, have yellow or orange patches on the surface of their eyelids that are slightly raised from the skin and are not painful or itchy, this symptom may be xanthelasma.

In addition to growing on the eyelids, xanthelasma also grows on the elbows, thighs, heels and other places. The appearance of xanthelasma may indicate a risk of cardiovascular disease, so an examination and diagnosis should be sought as soon as possible.

2. Yellowing of the eyeballs

Abnormal liver function, such as hepatitis and cirrhosis, can cause accumulation of bilirubin, leading to yellowing of the sclera. Bilirubin is a metabolic product of hemoglobin. When it functions abnormally, bilirubin cannot be excreted normally and will accumulate in the body.

3. Bloodshot eyes

The conjunctiva is covered with capillaries. Once a blood vessel ruptures, congestion will occur. Ophthalmologists remind that conjunctival hemorrhage usually has no obvious cause, but if you suffer from diseases such as severe hypertension or platelet deficiency, the conjunctiva may also become congested.

4. Pupil abnormalities

Under normal circumstances, the left and right pupils should be symmetrical. If one pupil is larger than the other or one side contracts more slowly and with less amplitude, it may be an early symptom of diseases such as stroke, brain tumor, or optic nerve tumor.

5. Puffy eyelids

The function of internal organs decreases, the metabolic capacity is affected, and water accumulates in the body. Therefore, if you often have swollen eyelids, you should consider whether there is a disease.

Reduced kidney and gastrointestinal function and heart disease can all cause eyelid swelling, but the specific problem lies in the presence of other symptoms and physical examination results before a conclusion can be drawn.

Generally, eyelid swelling caused by acute nephritis is most obvious in the morning; for people with poor heart function, edema will first appear in the legs, and then gradually develop upwards to the face, eyelids and other parts.

6. Fat particles

If you have fat particles, it is probably because the cholesterol in your body is too high. If you want to get rid of fat particles, eat less fried food or animal offal food, and eat more fresh vegetables and fruits.

7. Protruding eyes

Don’t think that only people with severe myopia have bulging eyes. Another common cause of bulging eyes is thyroid disease.

In addition, eye diseases such as intraocular tumors, orbital tumors, pseudotumors or intraorbital inflammation can also cause exophthalmos; eye metastasis in the late stage of leukemia can also cause exophthalmos, which is called "green tumor". It is recommended that people with these symptoms seek medical attention immediately.

8. Drooping eyelids

Old people often give the impression that they have droopy eyelids. In fact, this is just loose eyelid skin, a sign of aging, and not true drooping eyelids. Many times, droopy eyelids may be the ocular manifestation of myasthenia gravis, brain tumor, stroke, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

If it is the acute stage of diabetes, brain tumor, or cerebral stroke, the patient will have other symptoms besides drooping eyelids, such as difficulty in eye movement and double vision. It is recommended to see a doctor immediately.
