What's wrong with my nose twitching

Many people sometimes find that their nose twitches. What is going on? In fact, nose twitching is most likely caused by the trigeminal nerve. If the trigeminal nerve is stimulated in some way or moves a lot, it will become more "active" and begin to throb. If you encounter this situation, you can apply active oil and massage to relieve the discomfort.

The trigeminal nerve (n.trigminus) is a mixed nerve, the fifth cranial nerve and the thickest nerve in the face. It contains both general somatic sensory fibers and special visceral motor fibers. Controls the sensation of the face, mouth, and nose, the movement of the chewing muscles, and transmits sensory information from the head to the brain. The trigeminal nerve is composed of the ophthalmic branch (first branch), maxillary branch (second branch), and mandibular branch (third branch), which respectively control the sensation above the palpebral fissure, between the palpebral fissure and oral fissure, and below the oral fissure and the contraction of the masticatory muscles.

Trigeminal neuralgia is what everyone calls "face pain". This symptom can easily be confused with toothache. It usually occurs on the face. It is a relatively common neurological and surgical disease. Most cases of this disease begin at the age of 40, and it generally occurs in middle-aged and elderly people, especially female friends. The characteristics of this disease are: sudden onset, lightning-like, burning, and unbearable severe pain in the trigeminal nerve distribution area of the head and face.

Causes

First, the body lacks nutrition

Because the trigger point is at the corner of the mouth, patients usually dare not speak, eat or drink water. This causes the body to lack necessary nutrients, which further causes pain. Coupled with the usual irritable mood, it is likely to aggravate trigeminal neuralgia. Nerves are tissues that burn and consume sugar. A lack of vitamin B1 will cause lactic acid to accumulate and invade the brain, poisoning the central nervous system, weakening the brain's ability to consume oxygen, and even causing temporary spasms.

Second, excessive emotional tension

Patients with this disease are generally emotionally unstable and dare not do this or that. The more they fear headaches, the more painful they become, which leads to mental stimulation, which is also an important factor in inducing trigeminal neuralgia. A small number of patients cannot let go of their emotions and moods. They are worried and frowned all day long, and worry about the coming headaches. As a result, they become irritable and cause pain attacks. Under the same pain stimulation, people who are emotionally calm feel less pain and have a milder pain reaction than those who are emotionally tense.

Third, necessary protection is not in place

Patients with trigeminal neuralgia must be cautious about pain trigger points, especially on the face. The patient's face generally has one or more particularly sensitive "trigger points", which can be triggered and cause pain if not paid attention to, and radiate throughout the body. The location and size of people's "trigger points" vary. They can even be as small as a dot or a beard. Most of them are located on the lips, wings of the nose, cheeks, corners of the mouth, tongue and eyes. At the same time, weather and climate changes are also high-risk factors for trigeminal neuralgia. Once blown by the wind or exposed to sudden changes in temperature, the patient's pain may be aggravated.
