What are the symptoms of thyroid disease?

Thyroid diseases are not uncommon, including hyperthyroidism, thyroid adenoma or thyroiditis. The causes of these diseases should also be understood. Sometimes they are caused by abnormal individual immune function, and some may be related to genetic factors. Patients often show symptoms such as fear of cold, fatigue, less sweating, loss of appetite, and constipation.

1. Thyroid disease is a group of common endocrine diseases, including iodine-deficiency goiter, goiter caused by other reasons, hyperthyroidism, thyroid adenoma, thyroiditis, and hypothyroidism.

2. Thyroid diseases can be caused by many reasons. The most common iodine-deficiency goiter is mainly caused by iodine deficiency in the environment. Many thyroid diseases, such as hyperthyroidism and chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, are related to the patient's abnormal immune function and genetic factors.

3. In addition to local manifestations in the neck, thyroid disease may cause various clinical manifestations due to abnormal thyroid hormone secretion, immune abnormalities, and spread of lesions involving other organs throughout the body. When hyperthyroidism occurs, the level of thyroid hormone in the blood increases, which can cause palpitations, shortness of breath, and heat intolerance. Systemic symptoms include excessive sweating, irritability, increased appetite, weight loss, exophthalmos and hand tremors. When thyroid function is low, the level of thyroid hormone in the blood decreases, which manifests as systemic symptoms such as fear of cold, fatigue, less sweating, loss of appetite, constipation, weight gain, forgetfulness, slow reaction, cold, dry and rough skin, and cramping pain in the calf muscles. Malignant thyroid tumors often invade surrounding tissues such as the esophagus and trachea, which can cause swallowing disorders, dyspnea, and hoarseness; they can also metastasize through the bloodstream to the lungs and bones, causing bone pain and lung symptoms; they can also metastasize through the lymphatic vessels to nearby lymph nodes, causing enlarged lymph tissue.
