What to do if your liver function is not good? 8 tips to regulate it

Eating habits largely determine the health of our liver. Eating the right food will regulate our liver function, but eating the wrong food will cause abnormal liver function. So when our liver function is not good, we can regulate our liver through diet. So what foods should you eat to treat poor liver function?

1. Green food nourishes the liver

Green food refers to: cauliflower, celery, etc. This type of food has a water content of up to 90%-94% and is low in calories. For people who want to lose weight, it can fill the stomach without making them fat. Chinese medicine experts recommend green oranges or lemons, which can be made into green orange juice or green lemon water with the skin on and drunk directly.

2. Cruciferous vegetables can protect the liver

It contains various phytonutrients, flavonoids, carotenoids, sulforaphane and indoles, which can comprehensively help the liver break down various chemical toxins and carcinogens. Common cruciferous vegetables include cauliflower, cabbage, white cabbage and radish.

3. Eat more high-fiber foods

Eat more high-fiber foods to help your bowel movements flow smoothly. Because all food digested and absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract must be transported to the liver through the portal vein for processing, many foods and medicines often produce toxic substances during corruption and fermentation in the intestines. Therefore, constipation will increase the burden on the liver, so ensuring smooth bowel movements is the primary task of detoxifying the liver, because only by excreting toxic substances from the body in a timely manner can the burden on the liver be reduced.

4. Eat less animal liver

The liver is a detoxification organ, and some toxic substances will also accumulate in the liver. In addition, the cholesterol content in the liver is very high. 100 grams of pork liver contains up to 400 mg of cholesterol. Large intake will increase the burden on the liver. Therefore, patients with liver disease should not eat too much animal liver.

5. Choose low-protein foods

Red meat, full-fat dairy products, etc., have a high unhealthy fat content. People with poor liver function should eat more fish, lean meat, high-protein plants (beans) and skim milk.

6. Vitamin C supplement

Vitamin C is directly involved in liver metabolism and promotes the formation of liver glycogen. Increasing the concentration of vitamin C in the body can protect liver cells and promote liver cell regeneration. The concentration of vitamin C in ascites is equal to that in the blood, so a large amount of vitamin C should be supplemented when there is ascites.

7. Eat less high-sugar foods

This is because high sugar can synthesize low-density lipids in the liver, increasing the amount of lipids such as triglycerides in the blood; increased triglycerides in the body can slow down blood flow, increase blood viscosity, and cause aggregation and blockage of red blood cells and platelets in the microvessels. In addition, hepatitis patients rest more, have less physical activity, and eat a high-sugar, high-calorie diet that causes overnutrition, which increases the amount of lipids in the body and makes them prone to hyperlipidemia and fatty liver, thus aggravating hepatitis lesions and causing them to linger.

8. Eat more whole grains

When the liver is damaged, the liver's ability to store sugar for backup is disrupted, so you should eat more fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
