What's going on with the shadow on the pancreas

Shadows can usually be discovered through inspection, and they may appear in many situations. However, many people find shadows on their pancreas and don’t know what is going on. This condition is most likely caused by pancreatic disease. The pancreatic shadow may be pancreatic cancer or pancreatic inflammation.

1. If the pancreatic shadow does not change, it is not pancreatic cancer, because pancreatic cancer progresses very quickly and will not remain unchanged for so long. It should be a pancreatic pseudocyst, which is a pseudocyst formed after pancreatic trauma or pancreatitis. Enhanced CT or MRI can be performed to clarify the nature of the shadow.

2. The shadow on the pancreas is very likely to be a malignant tumor, and it is better to receive comprehensive treatment for malignant tumors in addition to conventional surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Whether it is an early stage tumor depends mainly on the extent of tumor invasion. Considering the high malignancy of pancreatic cancer, surgical treatment should be performed immediately once it is diagnosed. For patients who lose the opportunity for surgery, precise radiotherapy can also be considered.

3. Pancreatic shadows may be pancreatic space-occupying lesions, pancreatic calcification (chronic pancreatitis), etc. Shadows may also be pancreatic cysts, pancreatic endocrine tumors, pancreatic metastatic space-occupying lesions, etc. This situation may also be due to inflammation or cysts in the pancreas. High blood pressure is also caused by the pancreas and should be treated promptly.

4. If there is a shadow on the pancreas, pancreatic inflammation should be considered first. Of course, this must be combined with the patient's medical history. If the patient has a history of overeating for many years or has had pancreatitis, this shadow may be a scar left by the inflammation. If the inflammation recurs many times, the possibility of pancreatic cancer also exists. There is pancreatic disease, but no problems were found through clinical CT examination and histological cytology examination. Considering the current situation, it should be a good thing. It is considered that the disease may be a benign disease with little effect on the body, or it may be caused by congenital developmental abnormalities.
