Is allergic purpura serious?

Henoch-Schonlein purpura can be described as a type of allergic vasculitis, which is very common in children. Many parents want to know whether Henoch-Schonlein purpura is serious. Allergic purpura can be cured with timely treatment, but in severe cases it may turn into nephritis.

1. If the diagnosis is confirmed to be allergic purpura, it is generally not serious. Skin purpura (red or dark red bleeding spots above the skin surface, which can be of different sizes and shapes and can merge into large patches) may appear repeatedly in batches and may be accompanied by abdominal pain, joint pain, abnormal urine test, etc. The course of the disease can sometimes last for more than 1 year, but reasonable treatment can gradually cure it. A small number of patients may have frequent relapses in a few years, and even fewer may develop chronic nephritis and cannot be cured. If skin lesions are controlled and only urine occult blood remains, don't be impatient, sometimes it takes a long time. Stubborn occult blood can be treated with Tripterygium wilfordii, but the side effects are many and have a great impact on menstruation. Now the course of the disease is only half a month, and drugs such as Tripterygium wilfordii are still recommended to be used slowly. In addition, many vasculitis diseases can cause similar purpura of the lower limbs, so it is necessary to make a clear diagnosis.

2. Allergic purpura is a microvascular immune response disease caused by allergies, drugs, infections, etc. Generally, symptoms such as respiratory tract infection and fever occur first, maculopapular rash may appear on the skin, and it may also cause symptoms of other systems. Severe cases include gastrointestinal bleeding and nephritis.

3. Allergic purpura is a capillary allergic disease. The lesions mainly affect the capillary walls of the skin, mucous membranes, gastrointestinal tract, joints and kidneys, causing discomfort. Generally, symptomatic supportive treatment such as anti-allergic, heat-clearing and detoxifying, and hormones are given to avoid contact with allergens, as allergies may occur again after contact.
