Can cervical spondylosis cause headaches and dizziness? How to relieve them?

Cervical spondylosis is an illness of the cervical spine, but it also has many complications. Cervical spondylosis is very common in clinical practice, and many people are concerned about whether cervical spondylosis can cause headaches and dizziness. Generally speaking, vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis may cause complications such as headache and dizziness.

1. Cervical spondylosis directly stimulates, compresses or pulls sensitive tissues of the head, causing dizziness and nausea. The lesions stimulate, compress or damage the second and third cervical nerves, causing symptoms of dizziness. The lesions stimulate or compress the sympathetic plexus around the aorta and other sympathetic nerves in the neck, causing vasodilation and contraction disorders in the vertebral-basilar artery system or intracranial and extracranial arteries, resulting in dizziness symptoms. Patients with vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis suffer from dizziness and nausea because the lesions directly affect the cervical basilar artery system, resulting in insufficient blood supply.

2. Physical therapy: Based on traction and drug therapy, physical factor therapy is a more important treatment method. Treatments such as infrared, direct current ion introduction, low-frequency pulse magnetic field, medium frequency, ultrashort wave, microwave, and interfering electricity all have very good effects. Simple cervical traction is not effective in treating pain caused by aseptic inflammation of soft tissues due to various reasons, myofibrosis, ligament degeneration, periosteal pain or bone spurs caused by severe muscle pulling, and pain caused by stimulation of the soft tissues around the vertebrae. The above-mentioned physical therapy can promote the disappearance of local inflammatory response and relieve pain, shorten the pathological period, and its therapeutic effect is better than simple traction.

3. Cervical spondylosis can cause headaches, mainly because after suffering from cervical spondylosis, it can compress the vertebral artery, thereby affecting the blood supply to the brain, and symptoms of headache and dizziness will appear. Patients must pay attention to rest more. When this happens, they must be treated in time, and avoid excessive fatigue at ordinary times.
