Why are my fingers always numb? What are the causes of frequent numbness in my hands?

Everyone must have experienced numbness in their hands. Some people experience numbness after waking up, and some people experience numbness after lifting heavy objects for a long time. If you often experience numbness in your hands, you should pay attention to the possibility that it is related to nerve factors, brain, blood vessels, and cervical spondylosis.

1. Frequent numbness in the hands is related to neural factors. When human nerves are compressed, the flow of axoplasm in the nerves will be hindered, which will cause numbness in the hands. The radial nerve, ulnar nerve, and median plexus start from the cervical vertebral canal, pass through joints, ligaments, and bone fiber tubes to reach the extremities of the palm. If the nerves are compressed at any part, it will cause numbness in the hand.

2. Frequent numbness in the hands is related to vascular factors. Sitting for too long, sitting in a bad posture, or sleeping with your hands in the wrong position will cause numbness in the hands. This is because the blood vessels are compressed, and the blood vessels supplying the limbs are ischemic, causing numbness. Once the compression is relieved and the blood flows smoothly, a feeling of ants crawling and numbness is produced. When the ulnar artery and radial artery of the upper limb are compressed at a certain point, it will cause numbness in the hands.

3. Frequent numbness in the hands is related to brain factors. Human nerves all come from the brain. When the brain has problems such as stroke, the areas controlled by the brain will become numb and weak. Not only are symptoms such as dizziness, headache, and tongue swelling likely to occur, but also limb numbness will occur. If the patient also has symptoms such as high blood pressure, high blood lipids, diabetes, cerebral arteriosclerosis, etc., more attention should be paid.

4. Frequent numbness in the hands is related to cervical spondylosis. The human cervical nerve comes out of the intervertebral foramen and is divided into two, the anterior branch goes downward and outward to the forearm, forming the ulnar nerve, radial nerve and median nerve. The posterior branch goes around the posterior joint of the cervical vertebra to the back and is distributed in the muscles behind the cervical vertebra. Whether the skin is compressed by the anterior branch or the posterior branch, it will cause numbness in the hands, and it will also be accompanied by soreness in the shoulder and neck muscles, radiating pain in the upper limbs or movement disorders.
