What are the best ways to treat amblyopia

The method of treating amblyopia must pay attention to scientific treatment, especially for children. If the development of the eyeball is affected, it may cause the amblyopia to worsen. The treatment of amblyopia can be achieved by using an amblyopia treatment device.

1. Those who have no obvious eye lesions as proven by general clinical examination methods, whose distance and near vision caused mainly by functional factors is less than 0.9, one line lower than the normal corrected vision of the same age, one line lower than the corrected vision of the other, and cannot be corrected with lenses, are classified as amblyopia. Amblyopia is a non-optical and non-organic eye disease. It is a disorder of visual development, often with strabismus and refractive error, caused primarily by form deprivation (anything that blocks light and prevents a clear image from forming on the retina), including refractive error. Children are very plastic, especially those under the age of 6. They can be cured if timely treatment measures are taken. However, after the age of 10, children's eye development is very close to that of adults, and their plasticity also decreases. The prognosis of treatment at this time is not good. After the age of 13, the development of the eyeball is basically close to that of an adult, so it is meaningless to treat amblyopia at this time.

2. The treatment of central fixation amblyopia mainly suppresses the dominant eye and improves the corrected visual acuity of the amblyopic eye. When the corrected visual acuity of the amblyopic eye is normal, relevant binocular vision function exercises are performed.

3. Non-central fixation amblyopia requires suppressing the non-central fixation point and improving the foveal vision function. The human eye vision mainly relies on the cone photoreceptor cells in the fovea to perceive external images. Therefore, the treatment of non-central fixation amblyopia is mainly to stimulate the fovea. The fovea is most sensitive to red light with a wavelength of 640nm. Therefore, stimulating the macula with red light of 640nm wavelength will suppress the periphery of the macula and force the use of the fovea, thereby improving the visual function of the fovea of the amblyopic eye. After the patient switches to central fixation, treatment for central fixation amblyopia can be adopted.

4. Regardless of whether it is central fixation amblyopia or non-central fixation amblyopia, the basic treatment method is to first relieve form deprivation. If there is refractive error, corrective glasses must be worn to ensure clear imaging of the retinal fovea.

5. The treatment of amblyopia is mainly contact deprivation and stimulation of the fovea, so you must wear corrective glasses. If it is unilateral amblyopia, you need to use the patching method. Age × 2 is the number of patching days for the healthy eye, but the healthy eye should not be patched for more than 7 consecutive days to prevent amblyopia in the healthy eye. If the amblyopia is severe, you can use an amblyopia treatment device to speed up the treatment. For mild amblyopia, you can wear colored beads for auxiliary exercise.
