How to dry wild chrysanthemum

The fire-reducing effect of wild chrysanthemum is very obvious, so many people will dry wild chrysanthemums in the yard after picking them. After drying, wild chrysanthemums are used to make tea, which is very effective in removing fire and clearing heat in summer. Many people will find that when drying chrysanthemums, they may rot after a period of time. This has a lot to do with the climate. So how can wild chrysanthemums be dried?

The following methods are common:

1. Natural drying: Just spread the picked flowers evenly on the clean cement floor, let the wind blow and the sun dry them naturally. It takes about 7-10 days to completely dry. This is the most commonly used method in rural areas. The advantages are: simple, convenient, and the flowers have a good smell, but the color of the flowers cannot be guaranteed, they are prone to insects during later storage, and the flowers will break during transportation.

2. Dry in the shade: This is the method prescribed in medical books. It is to spread the flowers evenly in a dry and ventilated place (such as an empty room upstairs) and let them dry naturally. The process takes about 10-20 days to completely dry. The advantages are: the color, shape and smell of the flowers are very good, but the drying process takes too long, and the flowers are prone to insects during later storage, and they will also be broken during transportation.

3. Steam first and then dry: Steam the flowers with water vapor for 15-20 minutes, then spread them evenly on a clean cement floor, let them dry naturally in the wind and sun. The advantages are: the drying speed is fast, and after high-temperature sterilization and insecticide, they will not be infested with insects during later storage. The flowers will naturally shrink when steamed, and the flowers will not be broken during transportation. The disadvantages are: the color and shape of the flowers will change greatly, and the unique aroma of wild chrysanthemums will also be unnatural, tending to the smell of Chinese herbal medicine.

4. Drying with a dryer: This method is the most expensive but the most effective. The advantages are: the color, shape and smell of the flowers can be guaranteed. After high-temperature sterilization and insecticide treatment, the flowers will not be infested with insects during later storage. However, the flowers should be broken during transportation. Storage method: Manage and store uniformly, seal them into a new white woven bag, and store them in a dry, cool, ventilated place to ensure they are free from insects and moisture.
