You often have pain in your neck, back, and limbs, and feel like your body is falling apart. You just lament that your health is not as good as it used to be, but have you ever looked into the reasons? It all stems from your spine. In fact, the more flexible your spine is, the younger you are. In order to have a flexible spine, Dr. Lin Xin from the Meirui Orthopedics Department recommends that you should:

Don't stand or sit for long periods of time

Standing for a long time can easily cause waist problems. If you need to stand for a long time, it is best to put something under your feet, alternating between your left and right feet, or simply alternating your center of gravity between your left and right feet when standing can also relieve the problem. Stay relaxed when standing, but keep your center of gravity stable. Never stand in any position for more than one hour. Sitting for a long time can easily cause problems with the cervical spine and back. When you need to sit for a long time, lean your spine back and support your waist with a pillow. Get up and walk around every 30 minutes. The key is to give the spine sufficient reverse exercise.

Walking and lying down are important

Brisk walking is good for spinal health. When you walk, the paraspinal muscles are in a tense working state, and the spine will automatically maintain its natural physiological curvature, which can adjust and correct the spine. When sleeping, try to lie on your back or on your right side. Putting a pillow under your knees when lying on your back or between your feet when lying on your side can reduce the pressure on your spine. When sleeping, make sure your head and neck are firmly supported and not hanging in the air. The pillow height should not exceed 12 cm. The hardness of the bed should be such that you can barely fit your palms under your waist when lying on your back.

Other things to pay attention to in life

When reaching for objects placed high up, always stand on a footstool to reduce the possibility of spinal injury. When moving things, try to push them instead of pulling them. When pushing things, try to use the strength of your arms and feet instead of your back. If the things can be carried with you, it is easier to carry them in two small bags than in one large bag. Also, try to keep the items close to your body to reduce the stress on your spine. When lifting heavy objects, half-kneel on one foot and keep your body as close to the object as possible. Keep your back straight and remember to use the strength of your feet to reduce the pressure on your back. In addition, controlling weight and quitting smoking are two truths that must always be adhered to.
