There are four invisible laws of human longevity

There are four invisible laws of human longevity

1. There are many long-lived people in the family

A survey called the New England Centenarian Study by Boston University School of Medicine found that half of the centenarians have parents, siblings or grandparents who lived past 90 in their families. Studies have shown that direct blood relations have the greatest impact on life expectancy. Compared with cousins, siblings and parents have a greater impact on your life expectancy.

2. Women live longer than men

In 2010, of the 80,000 centenarians in the United States, 85% were women. Scientists speculate that women's lower risk of heart disease and men's high smoking and car accident rates may be factors that cause this phenomenon. The good news is that male centenarians are generally healthier than female centenarians and are less likely to become disabled.

3. Year of birth affects life expectancy

In 2011, the British government released a report stating that the probability of boys and girls born in 2011 living to 100 years old is 1/4 and 1/3 respectively; the probability of men and women who reached 20 years old in 2011 living to 100 years old is 19.5% and 26.6%; the probability of men and women aged 50 is 14.6% and 10% respectively.

4. Chromosome telomeres are very long

Telomeres are protective DNA sequences at the ends of chromosomes. The longer the telomeres, the longer it takes for cells to age, and the longer the lifespan will naturally be. Some studies believe that relieving stress, quitting smoking, and eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as deep-sea fish can increase telomere length, but the telomeres of centenarians are mostly caused by genes.
