Can malignant hydatidiform mole be cured?

Malignant hydatidiform mole can be effectively controlled through timely treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy and close follow-up. Malignant hydatidiform mole is a gestational trophoblastic disease, mainly caused by abnormal proliferation of placental villous trophoblasts after pregnancy. It is invasive and metastatic, but early detection and treatment have a good prognosis.

1. Surgical treatment is the first choice for malignant hydatidiform mole. Curettage is usually used to remove abnormal tissue in the uterus and reduce the tumor load. For patients with severe or recurrent disease, hysterectomy may be required to completely remove the lesion. Pathological examination after surgery helps to clarify the diagnosis and evaluate the condition.

2. Chemotherapy is an important treatment for malignant hydatidiform mole. Commonly used drugs include methotrexate, actinomycin D and etoposide. The chemotherapy regimen is formulated according to the stage of the disease and the individual situation of the patient, and usually requires multiple courses of treatment. Chemotherapy can kill residual trophoblastic cells and reduce the risk of recurrence and metastasis.

3. Close follow-up is the key to ensure the effectiveness of treatment, including regular monitoring of serum human chorionic gonadotropin hCG levels, imaging examinations and gynecological examinations. hCG levels are an important indicator for evaluating the condition and recurrence, and continuous monitoring helps to detect abnormalities early. During the follow-up period, patients need to maintain good living habits and avoid pregnancy until the doctor confirms that the condition is stable.

The cure rate of malignant hydatidiform mole is high, but it requires comprehensive treatment and long-term follow-up. Patients should actively cooperate with doctors for treatment, have regular check-ups, and maintain a good attitude and living habits to reduce the risk of recurrence and improve the quality of life.
