What is skin cancer like

In the early stages of skin cancer, it may appear as abnormal patches, moles or nodules on the skin, such as irregular shapes, color changes or rapid increase in size. You need to go to the hospital for professional diagnosis as soon as possible.

Skin cancer is a malignant disease caused by abnormal proliferation of skin cells. There are three common types: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Among them, melanoma is more threatening and easily metastasizes to other parts of the body, while basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are relatively rare to spread, but they also need to be treated in time. Long-term exposure to ultraviolet rays is an important cause of skin cancer.

Some typical symptoms include ulcers that are difficult to heal, new and growing plaques or tumors, asymmetrical or blurred moles, and moles that become darker, lighter, or mixed with multiple colors. If these phenomena last for a long time or are accompanied by itching, bleeding, and pain, you need to be particularly vigilant. Melanoma usually appears in the form of irregular dark brown patches, which may be rough or crusted on the surface, while basal cell carcinoma is mostly small nodules with a pearly luster.

Using sunscreen, wearing a sun hat, and wearing sun-protective clothing when going out are important means of preventing skin cancer. It is also critical to avoid long periods of outdoor activities during periods of strong ultraviolet rays. Check your skin regularly to see if there are any new or changed abnormal areas, and seek medical attention as soon as possible if you find any suspicious changes.
