What are the symptoms of advanced lymphoma? How should we care for it?

What are the symptoms of advanced lymphoma?

1. Lymph node enlargement: including superficial and deep lymph nodes, which are characterized by progressive, painless, hard, and movable enlargement of lymph nodes. In the early stage, they are not adhered to each other. In the late stage, they may fuse and anti-inflammatory and anti-tuberculosis treatments are ineffective.

2. Fever: Mostly irregular, between 38-39 degrees for many years. Some patients may have continuous high fever, intermittent low fever, and a few have periodic fever.

3. Weight loss: Most patients experience weight loss, with a reduction of more than 10% of their original body weight within 6 months.

4. Night sweats: sweating at night or after falling asleep.

5. Extranodal lesions: Common nonspecific damages include skin pruritus and prurigo. If lymphoma invades the mouth and nasopharynx, clinical symptoms include dysphagia, nasal congestion, and epistaxis. It can infiltrate the pancreas and cause malabsorption syndrome.

How to care for patients with advanced lymphoma?

When a patient is diagnosed with lymphoma, family members must first be able to withstand the blow and try to control their emotions. At the same time, they must encourage the patient to face the disease correctly, actively accept treatment, and help the patient build up a tenacious fighting spirit.

We should learn to share the pain of patients, show that we fully understand their pain and mood, be careful about our words, create a relaxing environment for patients, and relieve their tension and anxiety. In addition, the skin of patients with lymphoma should be kept clean and scrubbed with warm water every day. In particular, the skin in the radiotherapy area should be protected and all irritants such as sun exposure, cold and heat, various disinfectants, soaps, adhesive tapes, etc. should be avoided. Underwear should be made of soft cotton fabrics with strong water absorption and preferably loose. During radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the treatment effect and adverse reactions of patients should be closely observed.
