How to check after breast cancer surgery

How to check after breast cancer surgery

Follow-up examination is a very important part for patients after breast cancer surgery. The purpose is to detect signs of recurrence and metastasis in time and improve prognosis. The follow-up interval is generally recommended to be reviewed once every 3 months 1-3 years after surgery, once every 6 months for 4-5 years, and 1-2 times a year for patients over 5 years. The follow-up items include physical examination, blood test, and imaging examination. If persistent pain, cough, or loss of appetite, indigestion and other symptoms occur during the follow-up interval and last for a long time, you must be reviewed immediately.

Postoperative care for breast cancer

Postoperative care varies depending on the surgical method, but whether it is radical mastectomy, breast-conserving surgery, or plastic surgery, postoperative care has the following common points: 1. Pay attention to the exercise care of the patient's upper arm. Reduce the activity of the upper arm, relax it, and keep it close to the chest wall for 1-2 days after surgery to promote wound healing; 2. When the patient's condition recovers better, get out of bed as soon as possible and do appropriate activities; 3. Provide psychological counseling for the patient, inform the patient that breast reconstruction can be performed after breast cancer surgery, and reduce the patient's anxiety; 4. Guide the patient to eat a reasonable diet and ensure adequate sleep after surgery.

Functional exercise and precautions after breast cancer surgery

It is very important to perform functional exercise and recovery after breast cancer surgery. On the first day after surgery, patients can start to get out of bed and do simple activities. On the second day, patients can do activities such as clenching fists, bending wrists, and raising forearms in sequence to avoid muscle atrophy and postoperative syndrome. After breast cancer surgery, patients also need chemotherapy, radiotherapy, endocrine therapy, targeted therapy and other treatments. Regular follow-up and regular review are required. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a review every 3 months within 2 years after surgery, every 6 months from 2 to 5 years after surgery, and once a year for a physical examination in the hospital for more than 5 years.
