How long is the survival period of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and what is the treatment for the first stage?

For many people today, early treatment of nasopharyngeal cancer is very important. Below, I will introduce to you how long is the survival period of nasopharyngeal cancer? What is the treatment method for the first stage?

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is one of the most common tumors in China, with Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Fujian and other provinces being one of the most common tumors in my country. The incidence rate in men is 2-3 times that in women, and the age group with the highest incidence rate is 40-50 years old.

Due to the hidden anatomical location of the nasopharynx, the early symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are atypical, and diagnosis is easily delayed clinically, so special vigilance should be exercised.

As long as nasopharyngeal cancer patients choose the right treatment method, coupled with careful and reasonable effective care, while maintaining an optimistic attitude and actively cooperating with the doctor's treatment, they can stabilize their condition and prolong their survival time. It is not certain how long nasopharyngeal cancer patients can live, which depends on various circumstances. In southern China, many people suffer from nasopharyngeal cancer, and many patients are more concerned about how long they can live.

How long a NPC patient can live is also related to the secondary treatment of NPC. The recurrence rate of NPC is relatively high, and most NPC patients have lymph node metastasis.

Since NPC is mostly poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, radiotherapy is the first choice, usually using 60 Co or linear accelerator high-energy radiotherapy. The 5-year survival rate of radiotherapy is about 45%.

The treatment of stage I NPC is usually a single radiotherapy for the nasopharyngeal tumor and prophylactic external radiation therapy for the neck lymph nodes. Stage I NPC generally does not require adjuvant chemotherapy.

Through the above introduction, patients can have a clearer understanding of the relevant situation of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
