What are the hazards of malignant teratoma

What are the dangers of malignant teratoma?

The hazards of malignant teratoma include painless lumps, respiratory obstruction, abnormal tumor changes, and tumor malignant transformation.

1. Painless lumps

Malignant teratomas are mostly round cystic with clear boundaries and uneven hardness, and even bony nodules can be palpated. In particular, exophytic tumors are prone to occur in midline areas such as the sacrum, occipital, and forehead, causing serious damage to the patient's health.

2. Respiratory obstruction

If the patient has symptoms of malignant mediastinal teratoma, it will compress the respiratory system, resulting in choking, dyspnea, and distended neck veins. Retroperitoneal teratoma is prone to abdominal pain and discomfort, and in severe cases, intestinal obstruction symptoms.

3. Abnormal changes in tumors

When malignant teratomas occur in the ovaries and testicles, they may cause torsion and necrosis of the ovaries or testicles, which are mainly manifested by severe pain and corresponding local symptoms. Once a teratoma develops secondary infection or intracystic bleeding, the mass will rapidly increase in size, and obvious local tenderness will occur.

4. Tumor malignancy

Malignant teratoma can cause the tumor to grow rapidly and lose its original elasticity, accompanied by superficial venous distension and congestion. If it metastasizes through the lymph nodes and blood, it will cause symptoms such as swollen lymph nodes.

It can be seen that malignant teratoma is seriously harmful. After the onset of the disease, it is necessary to pay attention to treatment, perform surgery in time if the body allows, and provide patients with good care.
