Differences between prostate cancer and bladder cancer: 1. The sites of onset are different. Prostate cancer occurs inside the prostate, in the posterior urethra, while bladder cancer occurs inside the bladder, in the lower abdomen. 2. The symptoms are different. In the early stage of prostate cancer, the enlarged prostate gland compresses the urethra, so there will be symptoms of dysuria and labored urination. In the later stage, there may be pain and bleeding. However, bladder cancer does not cause urethral compression, and generally does not cause dysuria or labored urination. Bleeding from bladder cancer is relatively early, and painless macroscopic hematuria can appear very early. 3. Different pathological types. Bladder cancer is mostly urothelial carcinoma, which is homologous to tumors of the ureter and renal pelvis. Bladder cancer can occur in various parts of the urinary tract. Even after surgical resection, intravesical chemotherapy is still needed to prevent recurrence. Prostate cancer is a type of adenocarcinoma, which occurs in the acinar cells of the prostate and generally does not cause the development of urothelial tumors. Therefore, prostate cancer rarely metastasizes to the bladder, ureter, and renal pelvis. |
