What is the cause of gallbladder cancer

(ii) Cholecystitis

Cholecystitis triggers cancer mostly through the gradual proliferation of the gallbladder mucosa. Studies have shown that implanting cholesterol pills in the gallbladder of hamsters induces an inflammatory state of the gallbladder, and 68 percent of the hamsters develop gallbladder adenocarcinoma.

(III) Benign gallbladder tumor

Benign gallbladder tumors can be divided into epithelial tumors, stromal tumors and pseudotumors. Among them, gallbladder adenoma and adenomyosis are most closely related to gallbladder cancer and are more recognized as precancerous lesions of gallbladder cancer.

(iv) Cholecystectomy, congenital bile duct dilatation, and abnormal pancreaticobiliary junction.

Both are closely related to the occurrence of gallbladder cancer. Studies have shown that the incidence of gallbladder cancer is about 25% in patients with abnormal pancreaticobiliary duct confluence, and 1.9% in patients with normal confluence.

(V) Others

It has been reported that chronic inflammatory diseases of the intestine, chronic typhoid infection of the gallbladder, Mirizzi syndrome, etc. are associated with the occurrence of gallbladder cancer.
