Can blood routine tests reveal anemia?

Nowadays, physical health is the most important thing for people. If symptoms of anemia occur, blood needs to be replenished in time. It is very important to have a physical examination every year and check your blood routine regularly. Because routine blood tests can check the blood circulation in the body, people need to take it seriously. Can anemia be detected just by blood test?

1. Can blood routine tests reveal anemia?

Anemia can be seen from the routine blood test results. When diagnosing anemia, focus on the hemoglobin and red blood cell count in the routine blood test. If the value is lower than the normal reference range for the same age and region, anemia should be considered. According to the mean corpuscular volume, red blood cell anemia can be divided into macrocytic anemia, normocytic anemia, and microcytic anemia. For example, macrocytic anemia is mostly megaloblastic anemia, MDS, etc., normocytic anemia includes acute hemorrhagic anemia, microcytic anemia includes iron deficiency anemia, etc. Generally, doctors will find the cause of the disease based on the above tips. Only by finding out the cause of the disease can we prescribe the right medicine and restore the body to health. Do not seek medical treatment rashly to avoid making your condition worse.

2. Normal reference value of hemoglobin

Normal adult female: 110-150g/L, male: 120-160g/L;

Newborn: 170-200 g/L, Child: 110-160 g/L;

Anemia is defined as hemoglobin <110 g/L in adults.

Clinically, a level below 110g/L is considered mild anemia, a level below 90g/L is considered moderate anemia, and a level below 70g/L is considered severe anemia.

3. How to treat iron deficiency anemia

The treatment of iron deficiency anemia can be divided into symptomatic and causal treatment. The purpose of symptomatic treatment is to reduce the fatal impact of severe hematopoiesis on patients and buy time for causal treatment to take effect. Specific treatment methods are for patients with severe anemia, elderly patients or patients with anemia with cardiopulmonary insufficiency should receive red blood cell transfusions to correct anemia and improve the body's hypoxia. Patients with acute massive blood loss should receive timely blood transfusions or red blood cell and plasma transfusions. For patients with bleeding and bleeding, different hemostatic treatments should be adopted according to the different bleeding mechanisms. Causative treatment is actually treatment for the pathogenesis of anemia, such as iron supplementation for iron deficiency anemia and treatment of the primary disease causing iron deficiency, folic acid or vitamin supplementation for megaloblastic anemia, glucocorticoids or splenectomy for hemolytic anemia, immunosuppressants for immune-related anemia, and primary diseases for various secondary anemias.
