Reasons why the electric kettle trips when boiling water

Reasons why the electric kettle trips when boiling water

With the advancement of science and technology, various household appliances have made our lives more convenient and greatly enriched our lives. Everyone should be familiar with electric kettles. They are very convenient for boiling water and almost every family has one. However, many people may encounter the phenomenon of electric kettle tripping when boiling water. If it is high-power, there are many electrical appliances in the home that have higher power than the electric kettle. So, what are the reasons why the electric kettle trips when boiling water? Let’s take a look below.

1. The heating plate is damaged. Usually I just replace the kettle.

2. The thermostat or temperature fuse is damaged, causing the heating plate to lose power. Simply replace the thermostat or fuse.

3. The internal circuit is damaged, causing the heating plate to lose power. Directly replace the line.

4. If the water has not boiled yet, turn off the power switch. This is mainly due to scale. After the electric kettle has been used for a long time, a thick layer of white mineral deposits, which is scale, will form on the surface of the heating tube. This kind of excessively thick scale is not good at conducting heat, which not only increases power consumption but also affects the service life of the electric kettle. So you can just use edible white vinegar to remove the scale. The problem can be solved by pouring 0.5L of edible white vinegar into the kettle and soaking it for more than 1 hour, then wiping off the scale on the electric heating tube with a damp cloth.

5. There is also the problem of springs. The bimetallic strip contacts the heating tube through a small spring, thus keeping the circuit unobstructed. After a few minutes of power-on, the temperature of the spring is slightly too high, causing the spring to lose its original elasticity, thus disconnecting the metal strip in the circuit. The solution is to replace the spring.

Reasons and repair methods for electric kettle not boiling water

1. The kettle does not boil water - the kettle is broken but the power switch is normal

If the power switch is normal, the fault is mostly caused by the insulation switch. First, check whether the bimetallic spring is pressing against the switch contact rod. If so, use tweezers to bend it upwards until the distance between the two is 0.5-1 mm. If it is not tight, the switch box should be disassembled and the reed and contacts of the insulation switch should be cleaned and repaired.

2. The kettle won’t boil water—the water can’t boil and the power can’t be turned off

The reset switch may be malfunctioning. This phenomenon can be caused by obstruction of the switch linkage or severe deformation of the temperature sensing piece. For the former, find out the obstruction or foreign object. Generally, normal function can be restored by correcting the position and removing the foreign object. For the latter, the protruding angle of the temperature sensing plate tongue can be re-bent so that it can push the switch connecting rod normally.

3. The kettle does not boil water - the heating speed is slow

It is very likely that the plug socket has poor contact, the indoor power line or the power supply voltage is too low. Eliminate these reasons first, then check whether there is serious scaling on the electric heating tube, whether there is poor contact between the power plug socket and the base of the kettle body, etc. If it is dirt, you can first scrape it lightly with a knife and then polish it with fine sandpaper. If the contact is poor, first clean the contact piece, dirt and oxide layer of the plug socket, and then correct the shape to make good contact.

4. The kettle does not boil water - it does not heat up after being powered on, but the indicator light is on

If the indicator light is on, it means that the fault is in the electric heating tube or its connection part. It is possible that the electric heating tube is damaged or has poor contact. This can be determined by removing the electric heating tube and measuring its resistance. Poor contact is mainly caused by corrosion or deformation of the contact reed in the power plug. You can disassemble the switch box and clean it. If it is severely damaged, replace it with a new one. If the electric heating tube is damaged, it can only be replaced.
