Why does the blood coagulate so quickly?

Why does the blood coagulate so quickly?

When some people go to the hospital for a physical examination and have their blood drawn, they find that the blood they draw is not only darker in color and appears thick, but also that the blood coagulation time is extremely fast. This is a manifestation of thick blood, which is medically called "hyperviscosity blood syndrome." The main factors affecting blood viscosity include blood cell factors, such as blood cell number, size, platelet function, etc., plasma factors, such as plasma protein, blood lipids, etc., and vascular factors such as blood vessel diameter and endothelial smoothness.

1. What is blood viscosity and hyperviscosity?

Blood viscosity is the abbreviation of blood viscosity and is one of the indicators reflecting blood viscosity. The main factors affecting blood viscosity include: red blood cell aggregation and deformability, hematocrit, size and shape, the content of cholesterol, triglycerides and fibrinogen in the blood, etc.

2. Hazards and early signs of hyperviscosity

The blood becomes viscous and the flow rate slows down. As a result, lipids in the blood are deposited on the inner walls of blood vessels, causing stenosis of the lumen and insufficient blood supply, leading to the occurrence of diseases such as myocardial ischemia, cerebral thrombosis, and limb vascular thrombosis. The main early manifestations are: ① Dizziness in the morning and awake at night; ② Feeling sleepy after lunch; ③ Shortness of breath while squatting to work; ④ Paroxysmal blurred vision; ⑤ During physical examinations with blood tests, the needle tip is often blocked and the blood quickly coagulates in the needle tube; during blood rheology measurements, the blood viscosity is above "+++", and other indexes are also significantly increased.

3. How to prevent and treat hyperviscosity syndrome

1. Drink more water: Pay attention to the timing of drinking water, such as before getting up in the morning, before each meal (1 hour) and before going to bed. It is best to drink no less than 2000 ml per day.

2. Choose foods that can dilute the blood: These foods include hawthorn, black fungus, garlic, onion, green onion, bell pepper, mushroom, strawberry, pineapple, lemon, etc. which can inhibit platelet aggregation and prevent thrombosis; hawthorn and other foods have anticoagulant effects similar to aspirin; hawthorn, spirulina, celery, carrot, konjac, seaweed, etc. which have lipid-regulating effects.

3. Reasonable diet: eat less animal offal and animal fat, eat less fried food, do not eat too much meat and greasy food for dinner, and eat less sweets. It is advisable to eat light food on a daily basis, mainly vegetarian food, with a combination of coarse and fine grains.

4. Eat more foods rich in lecithin: eat more soybeans and soy products, eggs, and fish. It helps to improve blood viscosity and prevents blood clots from forming.

5. Eat more fruits and vegetables containing vitamin C: Vitamin C can regulate blood lipids; the fiber in vegetables can prevent the absorption of cholesterol in the intestines and reduce blood viscosity.

6. Keep exercising: such as walking, jogging, Tai Chi, badminton, mountain climbing, swimming, etc., to promote blood circulation.

7. Regular physical examinations: People over 50 years old should undergo blood rheology tests and platelet aggregation tests. Based on the examination results, take effective protective measures to reduce the occurrence of embolic diseases. At the same time, blood viscosity indicators can be observed dynamically to keep a clear idea of the situation.
