How to distinguish male and female red crucian carp

Red crucian carp is a kind of goldfish. The breeding process of this fish is very simple and it has strong vitality. Many people like to use this fish as an ornamental fish. This fish is also an omnivorous fish, so it prefers to eat meat. Since red crucian carp is a freshwater fish, it does not have very high requirements for water quality. It can be bred at home with tap water. So how do you distinguish male and female red crucian carp?

First, how do you tell the difference between male and female red crucian carp? Male fish have a long and thin body while female fish have a short and wide body. There are also differences in the tail. The female fish gradually becomes smaller from the body to the tail, while the male fish suddenly becomes smaller at the anus. Sexually mature and healthy golden carp and golden crucian carp, like goldfish, can reproduce on their own when the breeding season comes. Look at the fish's gills and the water fins under the gills. If there are prominent white spots on them, it is a male fish, and if there are no white spots, it is a female fish.

Third, there are generally more female crucian carps. The female's body is generally shorter but wider, while the male's is longer and narrower. From the genital opening, the female's abdomen is more swollen and feels softer, with faintly visible ribs. The half with fan-shaped pectoral fins is the female, and the half with harder and longer pectoral fins is the male. Put some aquatic plants in the tank. After a period of time, the mother fish will attach eggs to the plants. You don't have to worry about changing the water, but it is best to change it less often. Don't change more than one-third of the water each time. When changing the water, make sure the temperature difference between the two types of water is as small as possible.

How do you tell the male and female red crucian carp apart? It's most obvious in spring before the fish spawn; look at the fish's fins.
