Liposuction is a common way to improve puffy eyelids. It is a medical liposuction method to remove fat, but the eyes will easily grow fat after fat removal.

Will puffy eyelids grow again after fat removal?

It is very possible after fat removal, because liposuction is temporary in nature, so it will still grow back to some extent. But don't worry too much, because the growth rate is generally very slow.

What are puffy eyelids?

Puffy eyes are also called watery eyes and fleshy eyes. In the anatomy of the eye, there is a tissue called the orbital septum, which is a very thin tissue that connects the tarsal plate and the orbital rim. Its function is to separate the eyelid and the orbit. There are three septa in the orbit of the upper eyelid. The middle and inner septa are filled with fat, and the outer septa contain the eye glands.

Puffy eyes are caused by thick fat in the middle and inner septa.

Why do puffy eyes occur?

There are two main types of puffy eyes, one is congenital and the other is acquired.

In young people, the orbital septum fat is congenitally located lower in the anatomical position, or the orbital septum fat is congenitally overdeveloped, which causes the phenomenon of puffy eyelids.

There is also the situation of puffy eyelids caused by excessive development of the brow bone, so this is also one of the causes of puffy eyelids.

The bulging of orbital fat in the elderly is also a cause of puffy eyelids. Do not remove it all and be very conservative because it is bulging caused by aging, not overdevelopment.

The cause of puffy eyelids may also be caused by the lacrimal glands, which may be acquired prolapse or congenitally due to a lower anatomical position. Acquired prolapse is mainly caused by aging and crying.

The development of deep fat in the orbicularis oculi muscle of the upper eyelid is one of the most special causes of puffy eyelids, which occurs in about 10% of people with puffy eyelids.

Treatment for puffy eyelids

Whether it is congenital "blister eyes" or acquired orbital septum relaxation, it can be corrected through surgery and can be performed at the same time as double eyelid surgery to remove the fat globules and reposition and fix the lacrimal glands, so that the appearance of the eyes can be improved ideally.
