What to do if there is blood in the nose

The nasal cavity is where we breathe, and it is also the first gateway for fresh air from the outside world. Dust or dry air in the air may cause blood in the nasal cavity. If the diet is relatively hot and causes the body to get inflamed, it may also cause blood in the nasal cavity. Let's see what to do if there is blood in the nose.

The reason why there is often blood in the nose

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, the lungs open up to the nose, and diseases of the nose are often related to the lungs. When we breathe air, it first passes through the nose, followed by the throat, trachea, and lungs. The air we exhale also exits through the nose, so diseases of the nose are largely related to the lungs (or breathing).

From the perspective of Western medicine, it is the vascular congestion that causes vascular dilation, and bloodshot nostrils, and in severe cases, rupture and bleeding.

First, cool down your body

When someone shouts, "Fire!" what is your first reaction? I think most people would think, "Put out the fire." Similarly, when there is fire in our body, we also need to cool down our body. We can go to the pharmacy to buy some cooling medicine, or eat some cooling food, or use physical therapy with a cold towel.

If there is bleeding, stop the bleeding. In mild cases, the nose will show bloodshot eyes, and in severe cases, it will bleed. If there is bleeding, we should stop the bleeding first. After the bleeding stops, we should drink some anti-inflammatory medicine or anti-inflammatory medicine according to the situation.

Frequent nose picking and bloodshot

The mucus secreted by the nasal cavity, which we call snot, has the function of moisturizing and protecting our nose. If you pick your nose frequently, it will damage the protective mucous membrane, causing your nose to not be moistened, your nasal cavity to become dry, and bloodshot or bleeding to appear in your nostrils. Therefore, we should pick our nose less often to reduce damage to this protective film.

There are abundant capillaries in the nasal cavity. If the nails are too long or too strong when picking the nose, it will cause nasal bleeding. Therefore, it is recommended that you should pick your nose with your hands less often. Leaving an appropriate amount of nasal mucus can protect the nose. Also pay attention to your diet, do not eat irritating foods, and eat more light foods.
