Why do I catch colds so often?

The frequent occurrence of colds mainly depends on a person's immunity and physical constitution, so in life we should pay attention to improving our body's immunity and strengthening our physical constitution, so as to effectively reduce the frequent occurrence of colds. Moreover, once you catch a cold, it will seriously affect your normal life and work status, so a cold needs to be treated quickly. Next, we will introduce to patients the relevant reasons for frequent colds.

Why do we often catch colds? What kind of people are prone to catching colds?

1. Picky eaters

In winter, some people often catch colds, especially children who are particularly prone to illness and colds. At this time, you should consider whether your body is lacking in vitamin C and vitamin A due to your picky eating habits. Vitamin C can improve the bactericidal and antiviral capabilities of neutrophils and lymphocytes. In addition to alleviating symptoms, more vitamin C supplementation can also shorten the duration of illness.

The more vitamin C you get from food, the better it is at preventing and treating colds. Vitamin A is a fat-soluble substance. One of its important functions is to stabilize the human epithelial cell membrane, maintain the integrity of the skin and mucous membrane structure, and enhance the human immune function.

When the body lacks vitamin A, lymphocytes cannot produce immunoglobulins, and the ability of white blood cells to phagocytize bacteria will decrease. When pathogens invade, the defensive function of the respiratory mucosa will be weakened, making respiratory infections very likely to occur.

2. Those who do not add or remove clothes in time

As the saying goes, "Cold starts from the feet", keeping your feet warm is especially important to prevent colds.

Medical research shows that there are as many as 66 acupoints on the feet. They are involved in the circulation of Qi and blood, connect the internal organs, communicate inside and outside, and run through the five internal organs. There is a very close nerve connection between the feet and the upper respiratory tract mucosa. If the feet are cold, the local blood vessels will contract and the blood will decrease, which will reflexively cause the capillaries in the nasopharynx, trachea and other upper respiratory tract mucosa to contract and the cilia to weaken, resulting in reduced local resistance. Bacteria and viruses will take advantage of the opportunity to enter, making people susceptible to colds. Especially the elderly and children, because they have low ability to resist cold, are more likely to catch a cold once their feet get cold.

3. People who like to eat "three high" foods and salty foods

Regularly eating high-fat, high-protein and high-sugar foods will reduce the body's immune function. Eating too much salt will reduce anti-bacterial factors including interferon, allowing pathogens to invade the upper respiratory tract mucosa and induce colds. Eating too much sugar can lead to loss of appetite and weak spleen and stomach. Sugar also has a diuretic effect, which can cause water loss in the body and cause symptoms of dry mouth and inflammation. This causes a cold.

In addition, eating too much sugar will aggravate children's calcium deficiency and vitamin B1 depletion, causing physical weakness and sweating, decreased immunity, and repeated colds.

4. People with mental stress

People whose nerves are often in a tense state have significantly reduced antiviral substances such as interferon and nuclease in the nasopharynx, and their immune function will also decline, making them more susceptible to colds.
