Does liver cancer tend to cluster in families? Two types of food are the triggers of liver cancer

According to statistics, 110,000 people die from liver cancer every year. The high incidence of liver cancer deserves everyone's attention. Some people say that liver cancer is hereditary and contagious. However, experts say that although liver cancer is not hereditary, it has a certain tendency to cluster in families.

The reason why liver cancer has a tendency to cluster in families

1. Vertical transmission of hepatitis B virus: Mothers who are infected with hepatitis B virus and become long-term virus carriers may transmit the virus to their newborns during or after delivery. Since the newborns' immune function is not yet fully developed, they cannot effectively eliminate the virus and form a persistent infection, resulting in chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and finally liver cancer.

2. Horizontal transmission of hepatitis B virus: Family members of hepatitis patients have extremely close contact. If one of them is infected with hepatitis B virus, it is easy to infect others without knowing it.

3. Basically the same living habits: The eating habits, lifestyle, etc. of one family member are basically the same, and everyone’s chances of being exposed to carcinogenic factors are basically the same.

There is another explanation for multiple people in a family getting cancer. The basic view is that any cancer is the result of two mutations in the genes of cells. For patients with sporadic non-familial cancer, these two changes occurred after birth. For cancer patients with a family tendency, they have been attacked by carcinogenic factors before their mothers became pregnant. When they are born, the cells in their bodies have already had a change that is prone to cancer. If they are hit by carcinogenic factors again after birth, they may develop cancer. Therefore, the chance of developing cancer is greater than that of ordinary people.

Two types of food are the triggers of liver cancer

1. Do not eat moldy food

Aflatoxin in fungi is a carcinogen that can induce liver cancer in humans, monkeys, mice and poultry. The shortest time required to cause cancer is 24 weeks.

To prevent fungal contamination of food, you should pay attention to:

1. Peanuts, corn, sweet potatoes, rice, millet, etc. stored at home must be dried thoroughly and stored in a dry and ventilated environment.

2. Moldy peanuts, dried potatoes, dried radishes, etc. should be discarded and cannot be eaten by humans, livestock or poultry.

3. Peanut oil and cottonseed oil should not be stored for a long time. When a large amount of grain, oil or dairy products are suspected to be contaminated with fungi, the quarantine station should be asked to check and they can only be distributed, sold or consumed after approval.

2. Animal and vegetable oils that have a rancid smell should not be consumed

Stale oils contain a chemical component that can cause the structure of proteins to mutate, causing cells with mutated proteins to lose their normal functions and transform into early cancer cells.

In addition, the replication of certain chemical components of acid accelerates the aging process of humans.

Therefore, animal and vegetable oils should not be stored for too long, and oils that have deteriorated and produced a rancid smell should not be eaten. Foods fried in oils with a rancid smell not only taste bad, but more importantly, can cause cancer and shorten life.

To prevent liver cancer, we should start from the following points:

First, we need to prevent hepatitis. Using hepatitis vaccines to prevent hepatitis and thus liver cancer has become one of the most promising ways to prevent liver cancer. Not only should children be vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine when they are born, but adults who have not been vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine and have not had hepatitis can also be vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine. However, it is estimated that it will take decades to see the effect. In addition to the hepatitis B vaccine, attention should also be paid to the control of other transmission routes, such as diet, surgery, blood transfusion, injection, acupuncture and hairdressing.

One of the causes of liver cancer is caused by viruses. To prevent hepatitis B virus, we must start with food hygiene and living habits. Wash your hands frequently and separate your meals. It is worth noting that people with hepatitis cannot be chefs.

Second, you should not eat moldy or mushy food. This type of food contains aflatoxin, which is carcinogenic. Eating moldy food can also easily cause liver cancer. As for rice that does not need to be washed, Professor Wang Jianzhang said, "I don't think it is necessarily good. If it encounters high temperatures in a plastic bag, the temperature in the grain is high, and the moisture content is greater than 16%, it will mold. Moldy food must be dried. For example, corn, peanuts, peanut oil, peanut butter, etc. are foods that are prone to mold. These foods must be carefully stored."

Third, drinking water should not be polluted. Drinking water with chemicals can easily cause cancer. Tap water is not necessarily clean. There are water tanks on the roofs of buildings with more than 5 floors. The water tanks should be cleaned by a dedicated person, and it is best to perform secondary disinfection. The water tank body should also use chemicals that will not pollute water.

Fourth, proper selenium supplementation: For people with low selenium level, selenium-enriched yeast, selenium polysaccharides, and selenium-enriched salts can be used to supplement selenium and improve blood selenium levels.

The fifth is to reduce the intake of nitrosamines and quit smoking and drinking. Smoking and drinking are also bad for fatty liver. Drinking wine, beer, and a small amount of alcohol can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. In fact, this is not true. Alcohol is harmful to the human body. The gastric mucosa in the stomach has a protective effect on the human body. Alcohol can digest the gastric mucosa, injure the cells of the stomach, and the toxic substances in the food are easily absorbed by the stomach. This can easily cause alcoholic hepatitis, reduce the immune function of the liver and the whole body, and damage the detoxification function of the liver. This is why people who drink have poor detoxification function and are prone to alcoholic cirrhosis, and some cirrhosis will turn into liver cancer.
