Among the types of gastric cancer, not all are malignant. Gastric lipoma is a benign gastric cancer. It is common in middle-aged people. Different stages of the disease should not be ignored. As long as gastric lipoma is treated in time, it can effectively prevent the disease from worsening and achieve effective treatment results. Gastric lipoma usually occurs in middle-aged people. The development process of fat cells is divided into four stages: primitive interstitial cells, preadipocytes, adipocytes and mature adipocytes. Gastric lipomas located near the cardia may cause dysphagia; those located in the pyloric area may be complicated by pyloric obstruction symptoms. Gastric lipomas will only show symptoms when there are complications, and generally do not show obvious clinical symptoms. When ulcers appear on the surface of gastric lipoma, symptoms similar to gastric ulcer or chronic gastritis such as stomach discomfort and pain will be manifested. About 50% of cases may have bleeding. During physical examination, larger tumors may be touched in the upper abdomen as soft, mobile, and well-defined masses. 80% to 90% of gastric lipomas are single tumors, and 10% to 20% may be multiple. The tumor is often a spherical mass without a pedicle, or it may be lobed. A few cases may have a pedicle, and multiple gastric lipomas may have connecting bundles between tumors. Tumors vary in size, with a diameter of 2 to 5 cm. The largest tumor has been reported to be as large as 15 cm in diameter. The surface of gastric lipoma is smooth, with a complete capsule, soft to the touch, and can even slide inside the stomach wall. The mucosa covering the tumor often erodes and even forms ulcers due to mechanical friction, gastric juice damage, or excessive tumor size and mucosal nutritional disorders. For the treatment of gastric lipoma, asymptomatic cases may not be treated, but since the disease is difficult to diagnose before surgery, most cases require surgical resection to exclude malignant lesions. The surgical method is determined according to the specific circumstances of the lesion. Local resection of the tumor or wedge resection of part of the stomach wall can be performed. Multiple tumors can be treated with partial gastrectomy. The above is the basic pathological knowledge of gastric lipoma. We hope that readers can increase their confidence in fighting gastric cancer by understanding this benign gastric tumor, actively undergo treatment and care, and make due efforts to maintain their own health.
