Things to note when visiting Tibet for the first time

Tibet has a plateau climate and a relatively high altitude, so you should learn in detail about the precautions when visiting Tibet for the first time. If you have a severe altitude sickness, going to Tibet will be somewhat dangerous, so you must bring some appropriate medicines, at least enough for about ten days. Also, don't let yourself get sick. If you get sick, you should postpone your trip to Tibet. In short, altitude sickness is the first problem to be dealt with.

For regular travel, you only need to prepare some cold medicines, gastrointestinal medicines, and some antipyretic and analgesic medicines, such as: cold tablets, cold granules, diarrhea stop, compound aspirin, chlorpheniramine, and antibiotics. If you are not confident about altitude sickness, you can prepare some anti-altitude sickness medicines: Plateau Rhodiola rosea (take at least 10 days in advance), Baifuning (control headaches caused by altitude sickness), Gaoyuanan (take after arriving in Tibet), and American ginseng lozenges.

Preparation before entering the plateau:

1. Before entering the plateau, you can consult people who have experience living in the plateau for precautions so that you can be aware of what to do and avoid unnecessary tension.

2. Before entering the plateau, refrain from smoking and drinking to prevent upper respiratory tract infections. Avoid overwork, conserve your energy and get enough rest. Take appropriate amounts of American ginseng and other foods to enhance the body's ability to resist hypoxia. If you have a respiratory infection or cold, you should wait until you recover before entering the plateau. Prepare several bottles of anti-hypoxia medicine Rhodiola rosea or oral solution.

3. Good psychological quality is the panacea to overcome and defeat altitude sickness. Numerous examples have proven that maintaining an open-minded and optimistic attitude and building strong self-confidence can reduce the physical discomfort caused by altitude sickness. On the contrary, worrying too much, thinking too much, and becoming extremely nervous at the slightest discomfort will increase the oxygen consumption of the brain tissue, thereby aggravating physical discomfort and prolonging the self-healing time.

4. If you have never been to the plateau, you must undergo a strict physical examination before entering the plateau. Patients with severe anemia, hypertension or asthma should not enter the plateau blindly.

Things to note when entering the plateau:

1. Oxygen and drugs for preventing and treating acute mountain sickness, such as nitroglycerin (also known as nitroglycerin) and aminophylline, should be prepared as much as possible. Drugs for preventing and treating colds, antibiotics and vitamins should also be prepared just in case. Prepare several bottles of anti-hypoxia medicine Rhodiola rosea or oral solution.

2. Due to the cold climate in the plateau and the large temperature difference between day and night, please be sure to prepare enough warm clothes to prevent catching a cold. Both cold and respiratory infections can trigger acute mountain sickness.

3. If you experience severe symptoms of altitude sickness on the way to the plateau, you should take immediate action and take aminophylline or 20 mg of nitropropionate sublingually in time. In severe cases, oxygen should be administered. If you experience severe chest tightness, severe coughing, difficulty breathing, coughing up pink foamy sputum, or slow reaction, apathy, or even coma, in addition to the above treatment, you should go to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment as soon as possible, or transfer to an area with a lower altitude as soon as possible for treatment and recovery.

4. Since it takes a long time to enter the plateau by car, you will not be able to rest well during the journey and will consume a lot of physical energy, in addition to preparing the above items, you should also prepare water or drinks and delicious and easily digestible food to replenish the body's necessary water and calories in time.

How to adapt to altitude sickness as quickly as possible:

1. You must have a good psychological quality and do not worry too much about altitude sickness. If you are highly nervous, it will increase the oxygen consumption of brain tissue.

2. Get enough rest a few days before entering Tibet, and do not go to Tibet when you are sick. If conditions permit, you can drink anti-hypoxia "Rhodiola rosea oral liquid" for a few days before and after entering Tibet. It is best not to be addicted to smoking and drinking. After entering Tibet, you should eat high-calorie, easily digestible foods, pay attention to hygiene, and avoid overeating.

3. In the first two days after arriving in Tibet, you should avoid overloading your body or engaging in excessive activities. The temperature difference between day and night in Tibet is large, so you should bring some warm clothes even if you go to Tibet in summer.
