What diseases can neurodermatitis cause?

Neurotic dermatitis is a common chronic skin disease in adults. The main symptoms are paroxysmal skin itching and rashes the size of mung beans. It can appear on any part of the body. Neurodermatitis is more difficult to treat and requires a longer course of treatment. Therefore, the harm brought to patients is also quite large, and if not treated properly, it will cause many complications. Let’s take a look at some common complications of neurodermatitis.

What causes neurodermatitis?

1. Hypoproteinemia or anemia

The white scales on the surface of neurodermatitis lesions are easy to fall off. Large amounts of scaling will cause the loss of nutrients such as proteins, vitamins, folic acid, etc. that make up the skin. If the skin lesions persist for many years and spread throughout the body, it will lead to hypoproteinemia or nutritional anemia, and the patient will show fatigue, tiredness, and pale complexion.

2. Damage to liver, kidney and other systems

Generalized pustular neurodermatitis and improper use of drugs can cause damage to the liver and kidneys, resulting in a series of symptoms such as cirrhosis, proteinuria, edema, and in severe cases, liver and kidney failure.

3. Joint damage

Patients with articular neurodermatitis may experience symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, including joint swelling, pain, stiffness, limited movement, and even joint effusion or deformation, which seriously affect the patient's life.

4. Systemic damage and secondary infection

The skin lesions of patients with erythrodermic neurodermatitis are characterized by systemic inflammatory infiltrative flushing and swelling, and patients may also experience fever, fatigue and other discomforts. The skin lesions are large in area and the damage is deep, making it easy for bacteria to invade, leading to sepsis and death. Due to high blood viscosity and insufficient blood volume, heart failure may occur.

How to prevent neurodermatitis?

1. Relax your nervousness

Patients should remain optimistic, avoid excessive emotions, especially pay attention to avoiding emotional tension, anxiety, and excitement, strive to live a regular life, and pay attention to the combination of work and rest.

2. Reduce stimulation

The most important reason why neurodermatitis recurs and fails to heal, and why the skin locally thickens and becomes rough, is scratching caused by severe itching. Therefore, patients should have confidence that the disease can be cured and avoid using methods such as scratching, rubbing, and washing with hot water to relieve the itching. This is an important link in breaking the vicious cycle mentioned above.

3. Adjust your diet

Limit alcohol and spicy food, keep bowel movements regular, and actively treat gastrointestinal lesions.

Neurological diseases must be taken seriously by patients, as they will cause complications if not treated in time. The complications caused by this disease have been introduced above. It is recommended that patients with neurodermatitis must pay attention to their own neurodermatitis. Once they suffer from neurodermatitis, they should be checked and treated in time. If they do not suffer from neurodermatitis, they should also pay attention to precautions in life to prevent the occurrence of neurodermatitis.
