What is the reason for high serum uric acid?

We know that uric acid is the final product of purine metabolism. It passes through the kidneys and then is excreted from the body through urine. The uric acid content in a healthy adult is about 1.1 grams, of which 15% is in the blood. The uric acid in the blood is filtered through the glomeruli and then reabsorbed by the glomeruli. When the kidneys are severely damaged, the uric acid level in the blood will increase.

1. Excessive intake of purine :

High levels of uric acid in the blood are directly proportional to the purine content in food. 50% of RNA and 25% of DNA in the food consumed are excreted in the urine in the form of uric acid, which is one of the reasons for high blood uric acid levels. Strictly limiting purine intake can reduce serum uric acid levels to 60umol/L (1.0mg/dL), while the secretion of uric acid in urine can be reduced to 1.2mmol/d (200mg/d).

2. It is caused by excessive production of endogenous purine .

Endogenous purine metabolism disorders are more important than exogenous factors. The de novo synthesis of purine from non-cyclic to cyclic forms requires 11 steps, during which abnormalities in the enzymes can lead to excessive purine synthesis.

3. Including those caused by other diseases :

For example, long-term fasting and diabetes often cause an increase in ketone bodies in the blood and their excretion in the urine, competitively inhibiting the excretion of uric acid in the blood by the renal tubules. Therefore, the uric acid concentration in the blood can be increased. Generally speaking, gout should be considered when uric acid exceeds the normal value. This is a metabolic disease, which, if not controlled, can cause problems in all systems of the body.

4. Kidney disease

The serum uric acid concentration can be significantly increased in patients with acute or chronic glomerulonephritis. Moreover, hyperuricemia is one of the important biochemical indicators of gout. The higher the blood uric acid level, the greater the chance of developing gout, but the blood uric acid level of some gout patients may be normal.

Therefore, there are two reasons for high blood uric acid. One is unreasonable diet in daily life, which leads to too much high-purine food intake in the body, thus causing high blood uric acid purine. If this is the reason, then you should pay more attention to your daily eating habits and avoid taking in foods with too much purine content. At present, Shanghai and other places have first-class equipment and technology.
